Vaginal Atrophy, Dryness & Painful Intercourse
INTRODUCTION
Intima Vaginal Rejuvenation
Vaginal atrophy is the thinning, drying, and inflammation of the vaginal walls. Often referred to as Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause or GSM, atrophy occurs primarily due to a natural drop in estrogen levels. This loss can cause the delicate lining of the tissue to lose its natural moisture-secreting capabilities, its cellular depth, and its cushion of elasticity.
Atrophy can severely hinder standard movement, physical exercise, or intercourse, because such activities create uncomfortable friction, micro-tearing, and deep burning pain. Relying on temporary over-the-counter lubricants only masks the condition without restoring the underlying dermal vitality.
The irritation and discomfort caused by vaginal dryness is a deeply personal challenge that shouldn’t be accepted as an inevitable consequence of lifecycle changes. Whether triggered by menopause, postpartum hormonal shifts, or specific medical journeys, pelvic discomfort can take a profound emotional and physical toll.
At The Women’s Clinic in Glasgow, our female-led clinical experts offer advanced, medical-grade solutions that go beyond superficial surface lubricants and provide true, deep-tissue rehabilitation and healing. We deploy two of the world’s most advanced clinical innovations, which work in perfect synergy to restore natural lubrication pathways and repair volume loss.
The CO2RE® Intima Fractional Laser System is a genuine medical-grade laser innovation, exclusively available at The Women’s Clinic. CO2RE delivers microscopic beams of laser energy into the tissue walls to stimulate deep cellular repair, trigger natural moisture production, and thicken the protective tissue lining.
Neauvia® Intense Rose Intimate Fillers differ from standard topical gels or temporary aesthetic fixes, because their advanced hyaluronic acid acts deep within the vulvovaginal structure. It works actively to restore long-term cellular hydration, youthful plumpness, and vital tissue elasticity, reinforcing the anatomical barrier against painful friction.
Neauvia Hydration Injections are for vaginal atrophy and help recondition the tissue of the vulva and introitus for atrophy and lichen sclerosus if visible.

MORE INFORMATION
Questions you may have about vaginal atrophy, dryness & painful intercourse
Are these treatments safe if I cannot use hormonal HRT?
Absolutely. Both the CO2RE® Intima laser and Neauvia® Intense Rose are completely non-hormonal treatments, making them perfect alternatives for patients who cannot undergo hormone replacement therapies due to medical choices or histories.
How soon can I resume regular activity?
Patients can return to their professional routine immediately. We recommend avoiding sexual intercourse, hot baths, and rigorous exercise for 3 to 7 days depending on whether a filler or laser treatment was performed.
How will I know what treatment is most suitable for my vaginal dryness condition?
Because every woman’s intimate anatomy and hormonal profile are entirely unique, we do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. The most effective way to determine your ideal path forward is to book an initial clinical consultation. You will be seen in complete confidence by one of our expert female gynaecological clinicians, who will thoroughly assess your tissue health and prescribe the most appropriate treatment for your specific goals. In many instances, to achieve both deep cellular tissue repair and immediate structural volume, we may recommend a tailored combination treatment plan with both therapies.
Will I be seen by a female doctor in a discreet and private environment?
Yes, absolutely. Your initial consultation and all subsequent treatments take place at our West Regent Street clinic in Glasgow, which features a completely dedicated, private entrance and reception area. You will be cared for exclusively by members of our all-female medical team. Depending on your clinical needs, you will be seen by either one of our two expert female cosmetic gynaecological surgeons or our clinic founder, Amanda Pook, who is recognised as one of the UK’s most experienced and trusted intimate laser aestheticians.
